The Guest That Wouldn’t Leave

I was thinking today about a friend of mine that I haven’t seen in a long time…
We used to hang out together a lot, and we had some really great times!!
I remember he would come over and we would watch movies, play games, just sit and talk…often into the wee hours of the morning…and then the struggle of getting up early and having a productive day!!!
As a matter of fact… that happened a lot!!
It actually got to a point where it seemed like he was always there and never wanted to leave!!! And I was the one suffering the consequences!!
Something had to happen…
So I realized I was his source of entertainment … Why should he leave if I didn’t change what I was doing…?
So, the next night he showed up, and after a short visit, I just had to make it very clear, so I said, “Dude, you have to go!! Entertaining you is killing me!!”
He got the message, and I got some sleep!!! (We are still friends…FYI…)
I know that may sound harsh, but have you ever experienced a guest that wouldn’t leave?
I had to demonstrate authority in my home!!
Well there’s a great Scripture that talks about an unwanted guest…
James 4:7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
The devil will always be an unwanted guest as long as you continue to entertain him!! And by entertain Him, I mean, refuse to resist him….
He will try to entice you with everything that pleases the flesh…
And as long as you keep indulging in these things, he ain’t going anywhere…
But God has given you the authority to not only resist, but to evict the devil!!!
Resist him, tell him, “Devil, this is my house, and you got to go, in Jesus name!!”
He has no choice but to leave…
When you do that, you will realize that the devil had actually been consuming you, and occupying the spot that God had wanted to fill along (continue reading…draw near to God…)…
Then you will be able to finally get some rest and find true peace (in God)!!
Is the devil an unwanted guest in your house?
Take authority and discover that he is one guest that will leave!!

Love and blessing,
Pastor Daniel
