Dropping the Ball

Near the end of the Regular Season in NFL football, every game is a “big game”.
In a game I was recently watching, one of the star players had the ball and was running for what looked like a sure six points, but then it came…
He got hit and fumbled the ball!! All of a sudden he didn’t look like a star player and the fans demonstrated their disappointment. But, check this out… In their next possession of the ball, this same player made a spectacular catch for a touchdown and tied the game! He had been redeemed, went from hero to zero back to hero in less than five minutes!!
What we need to realize is that we are in “The Big Game” every day of our life and we are on the best team in the league, “Team Jesus”!! Each of us are super stars in His eyes, and have been equipped for whatever the opposing team (guess who that is…) throws at us… But, just like in the NFL, even the best players drop the ball from time to time.
The Bible says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
When you get caught off guard and drop the ball (miss the mark, fall short, sin, whatever you prefer to call it), don’t stay down, get up, we have a game to win!!
If you feel like you’ve dropped the ball and let the team down, remember, you have been redeemed (brought from zero to hero)…not by your own actions, but instead by Jesus who prepared for your fumble in advance. Your team is cheering you on and Jesus is positioning you to receive the game winning touchdown pass, let’s do this!!

Love and blessings,
Pastor Daniel
