GPS Directions

Earlier today, I went to visit someone at their home, and I figured this was a great time to try out the GPS on my Harley (After I’ve had it for a year and never used it…).  It worked great and got me to my destination right on time!

Now I have to admit, I have a little authority issue with GPS units…

(I like to have the final say so)…

As usual, coming out of my driveway the unit said “turn right”, I chose to turn left.

The unit politely said “recalculating route”. We agreed on the next turn, but then I had to overrule its authority again and refuse to turn left… again, “recalculating route” came through the speakers…

We only had one more disagreement in direction (does that sound a little weird, having a disagreement with an electronic device?), then it brought me right to the front door of the address!

Now God, who works all things for our good, showed me a valuable ministry lesson through this short venture…

This GPS never got angry at me for turning the wrong direction, never condemned me refusing to follow its simple instructions, it never gave up on me for purposely going my own way, but it  patiently stayed with me and led me to my destination.

Our purpose in ministry and as witnesses for Christ is similar to that of my GPS. To provide instructions and directions to those around us that will help lead them to their eternal destination in Heaven!!

Can we learn a valuable lesson from this GPS, and have that kind of patience with people, keep working with them, recalculating the route along the way, not getting angry when they make the wrong turn, not giving up when they refuse to listen, sticking it out until they reach their destination…?

The Bible give us this example;

Ephesians 4:2

with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,

Just remember, be patient with others because Jesus is patient with you…
